Trail Running Skills Session

Kim Ryan  | Published on 11/29/2021

Better your trail running skills with Brendan Davies!

A year ago we had three sold-out trail sessions with Brendan, with high praise for not only the flexibility to run a covid-safe education event, but for the expert advice from the leader. NRG is again offering its members the opportunity to learn more trail running techniques from one of Australia’s most successful trail runners.

Brendan has a passion for running trails over short and long ultra distances and has achieved the rare feat of representing Australia in 50km and 100km road running, trail and mountain running.  Members who attended last year’s event really appreciated Brendan’s engaging style of coaching and his willingness to share his vast range of trail running knowledge.

This year members have the opportunity to join Brendan on an escorted trail run on Saturday 11th December, in Lane Cove National Park near Chatswood. Available only to paid-up members with a COVID-19 vaccination certification. First-come first-in. Fee is only $10. Register by clicking the title link for the session.

  1. Escorted Trail Run - this is intended for more experienced trail runners who want to focus more on practicing their trail running techniques and getting tips and feedback “on the run”. Brendan will escort  the group around a 10km circuit in the Lane Cove National Park which covers most types of trail terrain including fire trail, single track, uphill, downhill, and tougher more technical sections. This session will be limited to 15 people. 7:00-9:00 AM

All participants are requested to bring a running vest or a pack they’d take on a long run, including what they would normally pack for a long run as Brendan will do a gear briefing at the start.

The meeting spot is at the entrance to Riverside Drive, just off Delhi Road - see map below.

COVID-19:

NRG is a community based running group and has a NSW registered COVID-19 Safety Plan. NRG's preference is for members to be fully vaccinated. If feeling unwell do not participate. If you subsequently test positive for COVID19, notify an NRG committee member or event host as soon as possible.
